PT EKI & CDM Advisory Service

PT. EKI helps companies, project sponsors, public sector and private entities capitalize on their renewal-energy related carbon assets, and offers a range of solutions for optimizing returns for projects that reduce Green House Gas emissions.

The services offered include:

CDM Due Diligence

Not all projects are eligible for registration under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. Our team of experts work with clients to help explore and quantify the Carbon Credits generation potential of proposed projects. Advantages of a Carbon Due Diligence include crystallizing the CER generation potential of proposed projects in advance, thereby enabling the developer to consider the same while raising the required resources. A Carbon due Diligence also helps mitigates the risk of unnecessary expenditure on developing the Project Design Document and going through the entire CDM project registration process for projects that would not be eligible for registration.

CDM Project Development

If your project is eligible for registration under the CDM of the Kyoto Protocol, we would be happy to assist you achieve the desired results. PT EKI’s Carbon Advisory team reviews and assesses potential CDM projects. Working closely with the clients we develop the strategy for registering the proposed project(s) under the CDM. The scope of services include:

The Project Idea Note (PIN)

The purpose of this document is to quantify the Carbon Credits generating potential of the project and to also provide an overview of the project and the underlying assumptions. The PIN, usually treated as a marketing document is used for generating interest from investors / buyers.

Project Design Document (PDD)

The primary document required for registering projects under the CDM, we work with clients and help them prepare a comprehensive case for registration. While developing the PDD, our Carbon advisory team helps the client identify, quantify and establish the various aspects of the PDD including:

a) The case for project additionality - a critical requirement for project registration, the concept of additionality revolves around establishing the fact that the said project would not have been implemented in the absence of it being eligible for registration and for generating Carbon Credits. Our team works with the client in identifying the baseline scenario, keeping in view the local conditions and practices and then formulates the argument for presenting the project as ‘additional’.

b) Emissions Baseline: This involves establishing the emissions on a Business as Usual (BAU) scenario and is critical for computing the quantum of Carbon Credits expected to be generated from the said project.

c) Monitoring and Validation: Working together with the client and the operational entity, our team helps in the development of a suitable monitoring and validation methodology, keeping in view the practical and cost aspects of the process.

Host Country Approval: PT.EKI, working with the client helps prepare the application for securing the Host Country Approval for projects proposed to be developed under the CDM. Our Advisory team will assist you in this area by helping you prepare, together with our team, and maintain a document trail with a view to obtaining the necessary approval within a reasonable timeframe.

Carbon Financing: PT. EKI works closely with a select group of large international investors and carbon credits buyers to assist our clients to suitably market their projects for raising carbon / project finance.

Carbon Asset Development Assistance

PT.EKI is collaborating with various funds and corporates, particularly in Japan, and assist project developers in producing CDM projects through assistance in the development of the Project Design Document (PDD) as well as facilitating the validation and registration process.
